Nelson Algren, For Keeps and a Single Day
Directed by John Musial
Actor/Narrator: Thom Cox
Soundtrack composed by David Pavkovic with contributions from Griffin Rodriguez.
Presented at the Ruth Page Theater,
February 11 - March 18, 2001.

"A love song to the city of Chicago. This intimate multimedia production sets Algren's backstreet poetry to the pulse of a live, onstage jazz combo, performed against a backdrop of black & white 16mm film montage. Lookingglass Ensemble member Thom Cox holds sway as the storied Chicago writer, opening a window into the man’s stormy love affair with the city he knew too well and loved too much. For Keeps and a Single Day invites you to meet Nelson Algren and the people he chronicled, shuffle some miles in his shoes and discover how his heart and the city's remain so intimately entwined."
